SRI LANKA: Apullanalada Ukku, 116 years, is the reigning oldest person in the world, after Japanese national, Jiroemon Kimura, (also 116 years), who held this record earlier, died on 12 June (Wednesday). Ms Ukku, living at No. 82 A, Bulathgamuwa, Mawanella, in the Kegalle District, has now secured a world record as the longest living person in the world, as of 12 June. The National Identity Card of Ukku Amma of Bulathgamuwa is 977960037 V. Based on the data in the National Identity Card (NIC), she was born on August 22, 1897. She has eight children and around 80 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The second oldest person living in the world is Misaka Okawa of Japan. Following Jiroemon Kimura’s death two days ago, the names of the 10 oldest living persons in the world have been revised. They are all women. Below are the names of the first five oldest women in the list: Apullanalada Ukku – 22 August 1897 - Sri Lanka Misaka Okawa – 5 May 1898 - Japan Jeraliyan Tele – 23 May 1899 - United Kingdom Mushat Jones – 6 July 1899 - United Kingdom Benris Medigan – 24 July 1899 Based on the revelation made by Mawbima, the relevant data had been furnished to the Committee of the Guinness Book of Records, which is expected to be used to update its records, shortly.
